Woman with Sleeping Cat – Decorative Folk-Surreal Oil Portrait

Paintings

Description

Original oil on canvas, 14" × 16". Signed by Plisov (consistent with the artist’s recent series). A serene, pale-skinned woman with closed eyes and soft features rests her cheek against a contented orange-and-white cat whose eyes are also gently closed. The pair share a quiet, intimate moment of companionship. The woman wears an elaborate, sculptural headdress dominated by a large blue-and-gold spiral motif, layered with geometric bands of deep red, navy, and metallic accents, star patterns, and circular ornaments. Her blue garment is richly patterned with swirling white designs. Soft golden flecks scatter across the muted background, adding a luminous, dreamlike quality. The style blends folk-art ornamentation, Art Nouveau curves, and gentle surrealism—highly detailed, colorful, and emotionally warm. This piece continues the artist’s series of tender human–animal portraits with intricate decorative surfaces. Ideal for collectors of whimsical figurative art, cat lovers, or those seeking vibrant yet serene decorative works.
